When one of your friends rings you and asks if you want to come on a free trip abroad. YOU SAY YES!
It may confuse you a lot, that travel, accommodation, food, drink and even spending money are all free but you say yes!
Last week I took to the road again and boarded a Eurolines coach to Amsterdam. You maybe thinking ‘a coach, that sounds long’ but It is so worth it! With Driver Russel at the wheel bringing not only a friendly voice but informative conversation about the places you are passing, you are in for a treat!
Basically Eurolines launched an awesome competition asking individuals what they would do with 48 hours in Amsterdam and 48 hours in Paris, I was lucky enough to be one of the ‘plus ones’ of the winners!
All we had to do was have fun! Smile! And pose of course! ( it was an advertising campaign after all!)
And what a trip it was!
In Amsterdam we made straight for the ‘I Amsterdam’ sign, ate croissants and soaked up the lovely blue skies by spending our first afternoon on the “water bicycles” a.k.a pedalos! If you’re going to Amsterdam, I recommend this as it’s such a laugh!
I’ll be honest I can say what is traditionally dutch food (apart from pancakes and waffles) but I tried Kangaroo for the first time and it’s lush!
On Day two we were the typical tourists visiting the cheese and tulip museums, hiring out bicycles and hitting the town for some crazy dancing! I found that Amsterdam isn’t what you expect. It’s not all about the Red Light District and the Coffee Shops, it’s so much more! It’s beautiful, quaint and long story short it’s really lovely!!
After a refreshing coach ride to Paris (which was definitely needed) we arrived in Paris!
Now I have been to Paris before, but I had definitely not experienced it like this! Of course we visited the Eiffel T0wer, even had a baguette fight in front of it. But I hadn’t prepared myself for a proposal at the top! Many people would say it’s cheesy, but seriously the cutest thing I have ever witnessed!
If that wasn’t enough, on the first night in “The City Of Love”, well eating cheese and drinking wine beside the River Sienne watching the light show on the Eiffel Tower, definitely topped it off!!
So you’re thinking surely day two in Paris can’t be any better? You’re wrong! Soaking up the sun, walking through the most beautiful parks, and getting to see THE MONA LISA in the Louvre! Come on it was like Eurolines took us to set of a rom com! And to top it off, we found The Love Lock Bridge, which I’d been wanting to visit for ages. Seeing cute couples together marking their love, and friends devoting a lifetime of friendship to one another, it’s pretty cool!
After visiting Notre Dame and drinking cocktails on a boat on the Sienne to jazz music!!! You have to admit you really are in paradise. Even though you are reluctant to return home to cloudy England, but with the new friends by your side, at least the coach trip and ferry ride are enjoyable, so you’re still left leaving with not only unwritten postcards, but a smile on your face.
So I say this 48 hours = plenty of time
Eurolines= Cheap and Awesome!
