So this evening was The Face of Princesshay’s Final at Exeter’s Rougemont Hotel.
The Face of Princesshay is a yearly event that showcases Exeter’s hottest faces, in the local newspaper The Express and Echo. Here contestants who have either been scouted in the streets of Exeter, or voluntarily entered have had their photographs taken and posted in the newspaper for readers to phone in and vote for who they want to see in the final.
The lucky winners receive £500 to spend in Princesshay shopping centre, and also receive a years modelling contract with Crazy Fishing Modelling Agency, as well as opening any events including the Christmas light switch on in Princesshay. So definitely an exciting prize.
I however was not entering the competition but instead been asked by the PR company to commentate.
After only receiving my script the night before it was fair to say I was rather nervous to be commentating at the event. Therefore I got up early and caught the train into Exeter to meet with the PR company; One Voice Media to go over the script. This was a really great idea as it meant I got to see all the contestants rehearsing their dance routines, and bag myself some free lunch!
The contestants were lovely, and I had already chosen my favourites and were clearly routing for them from the moment I met them, and was looking forward to the night’s event.
After a sound check, where everyone discovered how loud I was we had a couple of read through’s with my co host Ashley Jeary from the local radio station; Radio Exe.
And before we knew it, it was time to get dressed and ready. And as the event was part of the shopping centre we all got dressed in the high street’s clothing, this was really exciting, as I was dressed in a black dress from Coast which was Lush! As well as later that evening getting my hair, make up done!
So 7.30pm chimed and it was time to introduce the show, as I stepped onto the catwalk I realised I was overwhelmed with how many smiling faces were watching us, and just started to radiate their smiles as I introduced their loved ones who were glammed up and hoping to win.
After three dance routines from the contestants, and music from Emma Lauran, it was time to unveil the winners and I was over the moon to hear one of my favourites had won, and I was the one to announce it! But of course in true Chew style I had to be the clumsy one and nearly fall off the stage, after all day joking that someone may trip up, it was me!
But apart from nearly falling off the catwalk, it was a fantastic evening, and a great event to be involved on as I got to drewl over hotties and see how happy the two winners were over their exciting prize money and Modelling contract!

I chew! <3
