As a typical Media student, I am always applying for different opportunities and applications online on the wimm that I might be accepted.

Well Thursday I received an email from GoThinkBig inviting me to “A Lunch With Andy Roberts”, considering I had only sent my application off a couple of days before, I was completely taken back. Andy Roberts is the Station manager of Kiss Fm, so this was a big deal! I had no idea if it was just me and him, a small intimate group, or a large group of people.

So yesterday I trotted off round London in my ears muffs in the snow over to Kiss Fm, where I was met by  someone on my course at my University, which was  a pleasant surprise. We were joined by three other people, all eager to meet with Andy.

We were taken up the escalator and into the GoThinkBig office, where lunch was laid out for everyone to enjoy, and of course I was first to dig into the free food, and one of the only people who actually ate, so Mr Camera Man (Yes this was all filmed, not that I knew before I turned up) kept zooming in on me stuffing my face!

Andy Roberts turned up and introduced himself, his background, and how he got into the industry and informed us of his hands on approach to the station and his involvement with the rest of Bauer Media, including Magic. I was a really interesting and inspiring session, understanding what he looks for in employees and how he got a staggering 20 C.V’s a day!! Therefore learning how to stand out was something we were all keen to find out.

After the filmed meeting we were given a cheeky tour of the floor below, where the Magic and Kiss studios were, where we bumped into Neev, Rickie and Melvin from the breakfast show, who of course I banted around with, rather than be one of the nodding dogs walking round.

At the end of the day I tweeted Andy Roberts thanking him for the experience  which was politely replied back to inviting me to email and tweet him if I had any other questions, which I’m sure I definitely will.
