Last week was the most exciting and beneficial week in a while!
Dan and Katy from the Capital Breakfast show had the week off so Justin was covering. Myself and Justin have met up and recorded quite a few demos before now, so I was over joyed to have been asked to read the travel for him while he covered the Breakfast Show.
Considering I had never read Travel before, I’ll be honest I didn’t really know what to expect, I thought it would be quite easy.. It’s not! Because when do you ever really talk to people about the traffic on the roads and public transport.. you don’t! So 9 times out of 10 it will sound like you’re reading… which you are!

So I definitely had a challenge on my hands to try and make the travel sounds conversational, fun and well me! As that was the point of me reading it, to introduce myself to the Capital audience and show the programming team what I sound like on air, so I am sure you will understand that it isn’t as easy as it seems as you really only have a minute to speak every half an hour to show the real “you”.

Through the week I was given lots of advice and tips of how to improve which were really helpful, and definitely show in the audio, as Monday sounds completely different to Friday. I sound much happier and comfortable as the week goes on, however I still need to improve on making not sound like a “list”.

Overall it was a fantastic week and a massive learning curve!
Lets be honest it’s an amazing opportunity to be let loose on the Uk’s number one commercial radio station, and being referred to as Chewy!
