Apparently there’s not much I won’t do for radio…
I’ve eaten tomatoes << my pet hate!!
Done the cinnamon challenge, drank three shots of pure lemon juice and rapped on radio.
But last week I went speed dating with Sam FM listeners and we recorded the whole thing!
Cringe, embarrassing, awkward doesn’t even cover it.
We got listeners to register online and Carl chose three “bachelors”.
Each of them recorded a little message describing themselves and of course a classic chat up line. We played these throughout the week running up to Valentines Day and on the Saturday we met at Coal Grill and Bar.
I say “we met” one actually stood me up (brutal I know).
Bachelor No.1 an older chap who was a keen runner, lovely man turned out he is running The Grizzly ( a mini marathon in my home town) and a keen listener … But shock horror we weren’t a match.
Bachelor No.2 a young comedian who also listens every day who bought me gifts! A toy elephant, elephant sweets (apparently I mentioned elephants on the show once) and a brick… It’s not as strange as it sounds. We spoke about it on our feature Fakers Carl said either A Victorians didn’t sign valentines cards as it was unlucky or B they gave bricks for Valentines as a symbol of wanting to build a life together. Steady on mate we just met. Despite the gifts, we were not a match.

If you’re wondering why? Because it was a radio feature and I’m not that desperate!
The following week we played the dates out on air AND of course I left a voice-mail with the guy who stood me up.
Whatever next?
