From time to time myself and Carl from The Big Welsh Wake Up get asked to host events; Charity Dinners, Races and Award Evenings. I absolutely love doing this as you actually can see your audience, opposed to imagining them from your studio.
Yesterday we were invited to Liberty Stadium in Swansea (home of The Ospreys and Swansea FC) for The 22nd Welsh Varsity. This is where Swansea University and Cardiff University go head to head in over thirty sports. Our jobs were to entertain the students before THE BIG EVENT, the men’s rugby final. We sent links back to the studio, took photos of the students and played some songs in the sunshine while the students got very sloshed.
The exciting bit was actually being inside the stadium in front of 12,000 fans introducing the players and cheerleaders, hosting the mascot race and kicking off the game with The National Anthem and updating them on the scores at half time. Funny how excited we got every time the Nation Logo appeared on the side of the match and even more excited when we found out we were on Free Sport on Sky!
Such an awesome opportunity to promote the brand and the show in front of so many people. I hope to do even more events like this as I’m still buzzing about it!
